RPL Application Rules for Students with Previous Non-University Studies (Articulated Courses)
- UTS: Business is proactive in assessing a number of relevant, and frequently submitted TAFE, INSEARCH and other private college courses to establish an approved or standard "block" of exemptions for students who have completed these qualifications. These are referred to as "articulated" courses.
- Awards from Private Tertiary institutions excluding INSEARCH that are deemed
less/lower than an equivalent level to Australian
Qualifications Framework (AQF)
accredited Diploma level will not be considered. - Students need to have attained an average mark of 65% to be eligible for RPL.
- Students who have completed these courses will receive the standard block approved for that course. Exemptions will not be granted for subjects beyond the standard approved "block".
- All students who apply for RPL on the basis of TAFE studies, must have completed their TAFE qualification, to be considered for RPL. No credit will be given for partially completed TAFE qualifications.
- Students must have completed their TAFE course no longer than three years prior to the commencement of their relevant course in the UTS: Business. For example, for the 2007 intake of students at UTS, the student should still have been studying at TAFE in 2003 (not 2002 or earlier).
- Exemptions will not be granted for subjects deemed to be taken more than ten years prior to the student's first semester of study in the relevant UTS: Business course. For example, a student must have undertaken a subject, or graduated, no earlier than 1996 for the 2006 student intake.
- Students should NOT enrol in subjects for which they are seeking exemptions. Due to the volume of exemption applications received, exemption entitlements cannot be determined for all students prior to the deadline for adding and deleting subjects in the student's first semester of study. It is therefore necessary to ensure you are enrolled in subjects in which you can continue for the entire semester, irrespective of exemption outcomes. Should applicants subsequently be unsuccessful in obtaining an exemption for a subject in which they have NOT enrolled in their first semester of study, this subject will have to be undertaken in a later semester.
- Students may re-apply if an application is refused but ONLY if new information is provided.
