About research
Research is a key component in the successful achievement of the UTS: Business mission.
UTS: Business is committed to the pursuit of excellence in research. We conduct innovative research in both national and international contexts and across private, public and community sectors. Research activities cover both applied and theoretical research in the five disciplinary areas of our teaching schools.
Most UTS: Business lecturers hold doctorate qualifications and publish regularly, as well as continuing to practise in the professional world. With such a a high-calibre staff base, UTS: Business has an active research culture, with particular strengths represented through our research centres and groups such as membership of two national co-operative research centres and five key university research centres.
Our researchers have been successful in obtaining a number of prestigious grants. In 2007, we were ranked first for ARC Discovery Grants and fourth for ARC Linkage Grants across all Australian universities.
A defining feature of the UTS: Business research profile is its emphasis on collaboration and collegiality. We encourage research support and interaction in a variety of ways including a well-developed seminar series, support for conference attendance, and provision of a Research Development Team to assist in achieving research grants and high-quality publications.
In line with the UTS: Business mission: Forward-Thinking, Work-Ready, we place particular emphasis on interaction with industry and the application of research to address current business issues and problems. Our research is guided by the latest theoretical and methodological insights.
Research is a vibrant part of UTS: Business operations and we look forward to welcoming you into the supportive culture in which it is conducted.
