About research

UTS Business School is committed to the pursuit of excellence in research. We conduct innovative research in both national and international contexts and across private, public and community sectors. Research activities cover both applied and theoretical research in our Discipline Groups.

Most UTS Business School lecturers hold doctorate qualifications and publish regularly, as well as continuing to practise in the professional world. With such a a high-calibre staff base, UTS Business School has an active research culture, with particular strengths represented through our research centres and groups such as membership of national co-operative research centres and key university research centres.

Our researchers have been successful in obtaining a number of prestigious grants. We were recently rated 'above world standard' and 'well above world standard' across a range of research areas including applied economics, accounting, auditing, business and management by the Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) report, released by the Federal Government, cementing us as a national leader. We are also in the QS global top 100 in Economics, and Accounting and Finance.

A defining feature of the UTS Business School research profile is its emphasis on collaboration and collegiality. We encourage research support and interaction in a variety of ways including a well-developed seminar series, support for conference attendance. We also assist in achieving research grants and high-quality publications.

UTS Business School places particular emphasis on interaction with industry and the application of research to address current business issues and problems. Our research is guided by the latest theoretical and methodological insights.
