One of the objectives of the Paul Woolley Centre for the Study of Capital Market industry is to evaluate the extent to which the financial services industry does a good job both from the perspective of its clients and the economy more generally. The focus of the Finanical Services Research Group is to concentrate on this particular issue with respect to a very broadly defined range of service providers in including trading and investment banks, fund managers, institutional and retail investors, and consultants and financial planners. Besides being interested in the economic impact of these service providers, we are also interested in the behaviour of their clients with an emphasis on their reasons for engaging services that are discretionary.
