Marie is a management researcher at the UTS Centre for Corporate Governance.
Marie holds a Bachelor of Business (Honours) in Management and Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from UTS. Her honours thesis looked at e-commerce policies and regional economic development in Castile-Leon ( Spain ), New South Wales and Scotland. She also studied modern Spanish literature and linguistics at the University of Salamanca in Spain.
She has previously worked at Caritas Management Corporation (San Francisco, USA) and the foreign investment arm of the World Bank Group (Sydney office). Her work in the latter involved liaising with senior government officials from post-Taleban Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, members of other international governmental organizations such as the UK's Department for International Development (DFID) and UNCTAD, chambers of commerce, and heads of multinational corporations.
She has presented at international conferences such as the European Academy of Management (EURAM) and the International Sociological Association (ISA). With Thomas Clarke, she has published a 3-Volume edited series called "Corporate Governance and Globalization" (2006, SAGE of London, ISBN: 1412928990).
Marie is undertaking a PhD on corporate governance reforms in the Philippines and has been awarded a 2007 Endeavour Research Fellowship from the Australian Government. Her current research interests include theoretical developments in corporate governance, institutions, international corporate governance and regional economic development.
