Michael McGrath Prize for excellence in economics and humanity
Michael McGrath taught Economics at UTS and previously Kuring-gai College of Advanced Education for two decades. He was a person of great warmth, good nature and modesty. His interest in his students and in their personal and academic welfare showed in the deep affection in which he was held by so many. He had an empathy for the less advantaged and an ability to gently prick the consciences of others.
Michael was a person who made a difference in this world by his own humanity and that which he instilled in others. Michael McGrath died in 1995, aged 45 years, after a long battle with cancer.
