The School of Finance and Economics is one of the largest Schools within the Faculty of Business at the University of Technology. The School teaches at both the centrally located Haymarket campus and at the Kuring-gai campus which is located in the northern suburbs of Sydney.
We teach a range of undergraduate, postgraduate and professional development
courses. The largest of our programs is the Bachelor
of Business degree, in which we offer finance, financial planning, banking
and economics majors and sub-majors in banking, economics, financial management,
finance, insurance and investment management. Our specialised Bachelor
of Mathematics and Finance degree is taught jointly with the School of Mathematics,
and gives graduates skills in the field of mathematical finance.
Our postgraduate programs include doctoral and master's by research as well
as many coursework degrees. We offer a Master
of Business in Finance in which students can specialise in banking, corporate
finance or funds management. We also offer Master
of Quantitative Finance in which students can obtain a detailed specialised
knowledge and the professional competency required to work as a quantitative
finance analyst in the modern finance industry. Through Short Courses we offer
tailor-made in-house company programs and courses such as the Executive
Certificate in Insurance.
The School's main areas of research are quantitative finance, immigration and ethnicity, corporate governance and related issues. The Quantitative Finance Research Centre brings together researchers who are well-known in the fields of risk management and pricing.
The School has links with industry and academic institutions around the world, which provides our students with valuable research and exchange opportunities. We also employ visiting scholars and experienced banking and finance professionals to teach some of our classes.
