The evolution of the Holiday Coast Credit Union

Holiday Coast Credit Union is the result of the combining of three credit unions: Holiday Coast Credit Union formerly Hastings Credit Union, Manning Local Government Employees Credit Union, and Maitland Community Credit Union formerly Bradmill Employees Credit.

Today, the Credit Union continues to serve the residents and employees within the Holiday Coast Region of New South Wales, and prides itself now on delivering the 'credit union difference' to communities in the Maitland and Dungog Shires.

Since 1996, the growth of the Credit Union has increased by an average of 14% per annum, with on balance sheet assets reaching $242 million and a membership base of 33,522 members as at 31 December 2002. It is committed to the growth and development of the communities within which it operates and believes that this is a core part of providing services for mutual benefit and one of its greatest points of difference in the marketplace

The Credit Union seeks knowledge of its members' needs through market research in order to develop, and provide solutions that anticipate and meet the needs and expectations of members. In September 1998, the Credit Union introduced Branch Community Meetings, which are held twice a year in each branch community. These meetings give members and the broader community the opportunity to receive information about the Credit Union and for the Credit Union to receive valuable feedback from its members.

The future strategy of the Credit Union is to ensure that all of its branches are positively contributing to its financial performance, and that the Credit Union underpins the concept that each branch is a valued part of each community. At the same time, it plans to provide the widest possible range of access choice for its members and to encourage the use of technology to support the traditional transaction business, leaving staff to provide quality time to interface with members and provide personalised solutions for mutual benefit.

The Credit Union offers a full range of retail financial services to members. In addition to the traditional credit union products of savings, loans and investments, members have access to overdrafts, credit cards, access cards, Bpay, insurances, commercial loans and leasing services, as well as financial planning, through its wholly owned subsidiary company HCCU Pty Ltd, utilising Bridges Personal Investment Services authorised Financial Planners.

Holiday Coast Credit Union's vision is to excel in providing personalised solutions for mutual benefit. The future is about one-to-one relationships with members, and confirms the trend on the part of consumers towards wanting a product or service that 'fits' their need, rather than 'one size fits all'. Holiday Coast Credit Union will continue to provide financial and related solutions that anticipate and meet the needs and expectations of members for mutual benefit.
