Brief Outline of the Bachelor of Accounting

BAcc promotional brochure

The Bachelor of Accounting is Australia's premier business degree, and was designed to meet the needs of employers for multi-skilled accounting graduates. The $1.5 million of sponsorship support that it receives each year from graduate employers is testament that the course delivers those results.

  • Specially designed in a joint venture between the University of Technology and Australia's leading employers.
  • An intensive three-year degree course - two years of full-time study and two separate half-years of full-time work training.
  • A fully accredited accounting qualification that also allows you to complete a second major or sub-majors in other business disciplines.
  • 30 New students taken each year, and for the next 3 years you will study, work and play together as a team.

Our Mission Statement
To attract into the Bachelor of Accounting program, and then develop, high-achieving students who view an accounting career as an excellent foundation for future business leadership.

If you are a young person considering a career in business, then this may be the course for you. Accounting and financial management are the critical areas for any successful business, and business leaders today increasingly have this sort of background.

Our graduates have a year of full-time work in accounting behind them, as well as experience in dealing with and reporting to senior managers in some of Australia's largest businesses. They have had to show leadership, communication and team-working skills expected of future business leaders. And when they graduate they will continue to enjoy the business network that is Bachelor of Accounting students, staff, graduates and sponsors.

Please note:

  1. The Bachelor of Accounting is not the main undergraduate accounting course at UTS.
  2. The Bachelor of Accounting is only open to Australian citizens and permanent residents of Australia.
  3. All applicants must note that the course starts with compulsory fast-track classes 6 weeks before most other university courses. Check out the start date for next year’s course or read more about the fast-track period.
  4. We welcome applications from recent school leavers all over Australia - the course is not just for Sydney students.
  5. You can't do both BAcc and a cadetship.  If you are interested in pursuing either, read our information regarding cadetships.
