All applicants need to be aware that the UTS Bachelor of Accounting and Chartered Accounting cadetships are mutually exclusive options. They offer similar benefits, but it is not possible to do both BAcc and a cadetship.
If you wish to pursue both – apply for cadetships and apply for BAcc - then you should make any acceptance of a cadetship conditional upon not subsequently being selected into BAcc. Similarly, if you already have an offer of a cadetship or traineeship and still wish to apply for the UTS Bachelor of Accounting program, you should talk to your employer about making your acceptance of the cadetship conditional upon you not subsequently gaining selection into the BAcc program.
Cadetship employers have indicated to UTS that this is acceptable to them, and will not result in your cadetship offer being withdrawn. By informing the employer of your interest in BAcc they are at least well warned to recruit more cadets, knowing the possibility of some dropping out to take up a BAcc offer. Employers rely on those students who have accepted cadetship offers to start work as agreed in the new year.
If you have accepted a cadetship or traineeship already then you may not be in a position to apply for BAcc. It may even be embarrassing for you if you are selected for an interview for BAcc and your cadetship employer is on your interview panel.
By providing this warning note UTS hopes to encourage applicants to act with integrity at all times, and honour any commitments that they have made.
