Career Prospects

Accounting in general can offer one of the best career paths available to young Australians, in terms of long-term employment prospects, financial reward, satisfaction and challenge, overseas recognition of qualifications and opportunities to work abroad.

The Bachelor of Accounting in particular is one of Australia's most highly-regarded business degrees. The accredited accounting qualification, plus a year of specialised work training and studies in related business disciplines, make our graduates highly employable.

The demand for top calibre graduates to fill value-adding accounting roles is stronger than ever and is the reason for the high level of support this course attracts from sponsor organisations.

With a few years of graduate accounting experience behind you, you can set your sights on becoming a leader in business. Graduates of this course quickly progress to senior levels of responsibility (read some BAcc graduate profiles here). If you can't read a balance sheet, you can't expect to run a business.

Each year more than 90% of graduating students take a job with one of our sponsor organisations; the others accept positions with non-sponsors. All BAcc graduates get a job, most of them great ones with the best employers, and they will have these jobs secured in May of their final year of study. And their starting salaries are currently averaging $50,000.

Around 80% of recent BAcc graduates have gone on to complete their professional accounting qualifications, as a CPA or a CA, further building on their foundation of business skills. For more details about these qualifications, contact CPA Australia or the ICAA.
