Details of our selection procedures are as follows:
Application and selection procedure for the Bachelor of Accounting is different to most other university courses. This is because the aim of the program is to produce top calibre accounting graduates, and we need to identify those young men and women with the qualities that make them capable of becoming tomorrow's business leaders.
The result is that our selection criteria for entry to the course are considerably wider in scope than the university entrance mark, and our application procedure involves both a written application and interview. Prospective applicants should read this page and the selection criteria page carefully before applying for the course.
Please note:
- The Bachelor of Accounting is not the main undergraduate accounting course at UTS.
- The Bachelor of Accounting is only open to Australian citizens and permanent residents of Australia.
- All applicants must note that the course starts with compulsory fast-track classes 6 weeks before most other university courses. Check out the start date for next year’s course or read more about the fast-track period.
- We welcome applications from recent school leavers all over Australia - the course is not just for Sydney students.
- You can't do both BAcc and a cadetship. If you are interested in pursuing either, read our information regarding cadetships.
Applications must be made using the official UTS BAcc Application Form, available here.
Applications close in June, although there is a smaller, second chance to apply later in the year. See our Closing Dates page for more details.
Short-listed applicants will then be invited to an interview, to take place in Sydney. Click here to see our Interview Dates.
All applicants who attend an interview are then ranked according to their application and the report of the interview panel. We will advise you soon after the last interview day of your chances of selection based on this post-interview ranking. See our Timeline.
All offers make are subject to eventual achievement of the requisite UAI. Click here to see details of our UAI selection criterion.
Each year we expect to take in about 25 - 35 new students. The exact number is strictly limited by the number of sponsored places available each year.
We cannot acknowledge receipt of applications. However, you don't need to worry that your faxed Part B application has not been received.
