Event educator network
The Event Education and Research Network Australasia (EERNA)
The Australian Centre for Event Management, University of Technology, Sydney, in association with Victoria University, Southern Cross University, Queensland University of Technology, Griffith University, University of South Australia, Curtin University and TAFE NSW acted to establish a network of institutions engaged in event management education and research in July 2004. The goals of this body are to:
- Establish and enhance linkages between educators and researchers in the event management field;
- Facilitate interactions between practitioners and government bodies engaged in the event management field and event educators and researchers; and
- Link Australasian event educators and researchers to organisations and institutions involved in the event management field in other parts of the world.
Membership of EERNA is available to universities, state TAFE systems, state based event agencies, and event industry associations engaged in event education and research.
Enquires regarding EERNA can be directed to: Rob Harris
Membership of EERNA is presently free, with the only requirement being that organisations seeking membership meet the previously stated criteria. Upon acceptance into EERNA, organisations are required to provide a general overview of their event related educational programs, a web link to where additional information can be obtained and a listing of staff involved in the area (with ideally a link to their respective web pages). A questionnaire (PDF 46.9KB) requesting this information can be downloaded from this site and upon completion, emailed or faxed back to ACEM. Additionally (if appropriate) a listing of areas of event related research effort should be provided along with (if possible) a link(s) to the individual(s) involved. Any research papers/studies that are accessible from the organisation directly in hard copy or via its website should also be noted (and their cost), along with any other publicly accessible educational material or research studies conducted by the organisation. Such material may be available via journals, through publishers or the Cooperative Centre for Sustainable Tourism, for example.
