NEW SHORT COURSES

  

SYDNEY COURSES 2009

The Executive Certificate in Event Management is a short course program, 6-days (2 x 3 days), designed to provide a foundation of key skills and knowledge associated with the creation and delivery of events.

The program has been designed to both enhance the professional skills and knowledge base of those already employed within the industry, and to serve as a sound platform for people wishing to launch careers in the varied field of event management.

ACEM will be running two courses in 2009.

First Intake:
Unit 1: Event Management and Marketing, Wednesday 22 April - Friday 24 April; and
Unit 2: Event Operations, Wednesday 10th June - Friday 12th June

Second Intake:
Unit 1: Event Management and Marketing, Wednesday 17 June - Friday 19th June; and
Unit 2: Event Operations, Wednesday 30th September - Friday 2nd October

The Executive Certificate in Crowd Management is a short course program (4-days) designed for event managers wishing to create safer events; managers in government organisations who are involved with public safety and events; police, fire and health/safety services that are linked to events; and risk managers.

The course is being delivered in association with the Centre for Crowd Management and Security Studies, Buckinghamshire New University, UK.

The course convenor is Professor Chris Kemp, Executive Dean, The Faculty of Enterprise & Innovation, Buckinghamshire New University. Chris Kemp has been active in the live music industry for over two decades. He was instrumental in the development of the Centre for Crowd Management and Security Studies, which has a worldwide reputation for its industrial research and work-based degree programs.

The certificate will cover topics such as the mechanics of crowd control systems; the interaction of the physical, social and psychological aspects in the delivery of pertinent crowd management systems; the tension between legal aspects of crowd safety and common sense; and the pressure barrier system.

Course Dates: Monday 13th July - Thursday 16th July  (inclusive)


SEMINAR SERIES
ACEM conducts an annual seminar series for professionals involved in the event industry. Topics will be available in early 2009.

MELBOURNE  - 17 - 20 November 2008
ACEM will be delivering a joint 4 Day Event Management Program (303kb, PDF) in association with the Centre for Tourism and Services Research, Victoria University.


INTERNATIONAL SHORT COURSES

LONDON - 4-7 November 2008
ACEM will be delivering a joint 4 Day Event Management Program (321kb, PDF) in association with London Metropolitan  University.

MACAU - 2-5 December 2008
ACEM will be delivering a joint 4 Day Event Management Program in association with the Institute for Tourism Studies.

MACAU - 6 December 2008
ACEM will be delivering a joint Advanced Master-Class in Event Project Management in association with the Institute for Tourism Studies.

EDINBURGH- 26-29 January 2009
ACEM will be delivering a joint 4 Day Event Management Program (329kb, PDF) in association with Napier University.

New Event and Olympic Studies On-line Collection

The Australian Centre for Event Management (ACEM) announces the new UTS Event and Olympic Studies On-line Collection. The on-line collection is unique in Australia and Internationally. ACEM acknowledges the generous support of the sponsoring organisations: Events Tasmania, Hidden Door, Sydney Entertainment Centre, and Sydney Olympic Park Authority.

The Collection
The collection contains Event and Olympic manuals, reports, templates, memorabilia, archival records and documents as well as the latest scholarly and industry publications. The collection is constantly growing, reflecting the dynamic nature of this field of study.
