Event Industry Networking Function - 15 December, 2006The Australian Centre for Event Management in association with the National Art School and Sydney Prop Specialists, invite you to hear from one of Australia's most respected industry practicitioners - Michael Jacobsen (107Kb PDF), Executive Director - Jacobsen Entertainment Group/Producer - Dirty Dancing. Michael  provided insights into current issues and trends in the entertainment production area.

This was a unique opportunity to network with some of Australia's most experienced and awarded public and corporate event producers. Attendees were also able to explore the many new venues and function spaces within the walls of the historic Old Darlinghurst Gaol. This event  featured a themed entertainment and a menu to delight the senses.

                             

Event Industry Networking Function November 2005
The Australian Centre for Event Management held their Event Industry Networking Function at the Blu Horizon Bar, Shangri-La Hotel. Two of Australia's most well respected industry practicitioners, David Grant, Managing Director, David Grant Special Events and Andrew Walsh, Director, Accolade Events -provided insights into current issues and trends facing the events industry.


Staff members and industry associates recently joined together for a cocktail reception to welcome the new intake of students enrolled in the Executive Certificate in Event Management. We were honoured to appoint Andrew Walsh, Executive Producer for the Athens Summer Olympics and current Director of Ceremonies for the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, as an Associate of the Centre.

Australian Centre for Event Management goes "Green"....
The Australian Centre for Event Management (ACEM) has entered into an agreement with Auspower, a Victorian based power company, to have all power needs associated with the delivery of its training and educational programs (including the Master of Management - Event Management) met using 'green power'. Auspower has recently introduced a new product 'Green Event' which allows individual events to purchase power from renewable sources to meet their electricity needs. By entering this partnership ACEM intends to heighten awareness of this innovative product, and in so doing progress its own efforts at facilitating the Australian event industry's progress towards the conduct of more environmentally sustainable events.

ACEM presents community engagement strategy at the National Event Summit
Centre Director, Rob Harris recently presented the outcomes of a research proposal undertaken for Arts ACT that aimed to identify strategies to enhance community engagement in events. The presentation was delivered at the FEA National Event Summit at Old Parliament House in Canberra, which was attended by more than 100 industry representatives from Australia and overseas. More details of the research will be placed on-line in the near future. 

ACEM goes to Boston for the IFEA Conference
The University of Illinois and ACEM recently partnered up to deliver a Research Symposium presented at the IFEA (International Festivals and Events Association) conference in the historic city of Boston, Massachusetts. To find out more look at the Abstract Booklet (PDF).
