Faculty and PhD students are invited to attend the 2012 UTS Australian Summer Accounting Research Consortium and Symposium. The keynote speakers for the Symposium will be Professor S.P. Kothari and Professor Joseph P. Weber (Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA).

Applications are invited to attend this 2-day Accounting Research Consortium being conducted by Professor S.P. Kothari and Professor Joseph P. Weber. Professor Kothari is currently Deputy Dean, Gordon Y Billard Professor of Management, and a Professor of Accounting at the Sloan School of Management, MIT. Professor Kothari’s highly-cited research focuses on financial reporting and valuation, asset allocation, explaining the diversity in international accounting practices, use of employee stock options for compensating executives and accounting for stock options, evaluating investment performance, and corporate uses of derivatives for hedging and speculation.
Professor Joseph P. Weber is currently Professor of Accounting at the Sloan School of Management, MIT. Professor Weber specialises in empirical work on the importance of accounting information in financial contracts. Professor Weber’s research has recently appeared in The Accounting Review, the Journal of Accounting Research, and the Journal of Accounting and Economics.
The UTS PhD and Early Career Researcher’s (ECR) Consortium is open to all researchers and PhD students. There will be a special session on both days of the Consortium to allow selected emerging researchers and students to present their work-in-progress.
There is no charge for attending the Consortium, however attendees are responsible for their own travel and accommodation costs. Morning/afternoon tea and lunch will be provided. Places are limited and anyone who wishes to attend should register.

The 15th annual Australian Summer Accounting Symposium will be held at the University of Technology, Sydney on 2nd & 3rd February 2012. The 2012 Summer Accounting Symposium will comprise 2 key-note addresses and 8 paper presentations. The key note speakers for 2012 will be Professor S.P Kothari, and Professor Joseph Weber from the Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
In 2011, the Symposium attracted leading accounting researchers from around the world, and presenters included faculty from leading institutions in North America, Europe and Asia. The Accounting Discipline Group at UTS is committed to ensuring that the Australian Summer Accounting Symposium continues as the premier event of its type in the Australasian region.
There is no charge for attending the Symposium, however registrations are required. Attendees are responsible for their own travel and accommodation costs. Morning/afternoon tea and lunch will be provided.
UTS Business School is located at the southern fringe of Sydney’s central business district, adjacent to the Darling Harbour tourist precinct. It is close to a wide variety of hotel and apartment accommodation, as well as excellent public transport access to beaches and other tourist attractions.
