Courses in enterprise-systems and business intelligence

Postgraduate award courses by coursework

SAP enterprise systems (ES) and SAP BI applications are used in various postgraduate subjects and courses, which target primarily students with some accounting or IT/IS background, working or intending to work in organisations using or intending to implement enterprise systems and or business intelligence solutions. These award courses prepare students for roles including systems accountant, management accountant, financial controller, IS auditor, business analyst, IS project manager/IS consultant, business intelligence manager, etc.

(MBus AIS) Master of Business in Accounting Information Systems

This 72 credit point course is the ‘flagship’ in ES/BI related education at UTS, and it is in fact a quite unique offer in the whole Asian-Pacific region. This new course equips students with a broad range of skills ranging from essentials in financial accounting, finance and management accounting, to best practises in enterprise integration, project management and business intelligence, with an integrative, cross-functional, business process integration capstone subject rounding off the course. The course addresses conceptual topics, but it presents them in a very practical setting to maximise the work-readiness of the graduates. It presents accounting as an information management function, closely integrated with other business functions and highly reliant on small to large software packages and a networked IT-infrastructure. The course acknowledges the fact that ERP systems and BI solutions have significantly changed the way accounting is done in organisations today (Grabski, Leech, Sangster 2009), and it prepares students for the corresponding skill requirements.

(GradCert AIS) Graduate Certificate in Accounting Information Systems

The Graduate Certificate in Accounting Information Systems is recommended for students who either want to take step 1 on the way to the full MBus AIS program, or want to get a base qualification in accounting with a more systems-oriented flavour.

(MBA) Master of Business Administration

The 96 credit points Master of Business Administration (MBA) offers both a Major (48 credit points) and a Sub-Major (24 credit points) in Accounting Information Systems, thereby allowing students to access many of the subjects which are also part of the MBus AIS, but in this case after completing a broader management oriented education within the core program of the MBA.

(MProfAcc) Master of Professional Accounting Extended

MPA Professional Accounting (ext) students can currently access three AIS subjects as part of their electives.

Postgraduate award degrees by research

Enterprise-systems can be studied as part of the Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Business in Accounting by research. For more information visit the school's courses page.

Non-award courses (‘short-courses’)

ES/SAP non-award courses are designed for people who are interested in learning about SAP solutions without enrolling in a university course. These non-award courses are intended for people with either a business (e.g. accountants) or an IT/IS background working or intending to work in companies using or intending to implement enterprise-systems. These non-award courses selectively enhance students’ skills in both using and configuring SAP ERP, and they provide a pathway for achieving certification as “SAP Certified Associate”.

For more information visit the UTS:Business short-course website.

Non-award postgraduate study

As a non-award student, you're able to attend the following postgraduate single subjects without enrolling in a postgraduate course. Please note that most subjects have prerequisites or co-requisites. For information on how to apply visit UTS:Applying for non-award study.
