History

UTS: Business has been teaching the Bachelor of Business for over 30 years, and the MBA  for over 25. We can trace our history back to 1967, making us one of the longest-established faculties in the university.

1967

The NSW Institute of Business Studies is established and begins offering diploma courses in commerce, management and public administration.

1969

The New South Wales Institute of Technology (NSWIT) is formed from the merger of the Institute of Business Studies and the Institute of Technology.

1974

The first Bachelor of Business is introduced at NSWIT and a Bachelor of Business and a Master's program are established at the Kuring-gai College of Advanced Education.

1980

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) is introduced at NSWIT.

1988

In recognition of its success and high academic standing, NSWIT is reconstituted as the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS).

1990

The present Faculty of Business (UTS: Business) is formed as a result of amalgamations brought about by the restructuring of the higher education sector in Australia.

1991

The UTS:Graduate School of Business (GSB)  is established to provide leadership for UTS: Business postgraduate coursework programs.

2005

The Bachelor of Business reaches its thirty-year milestone.

2006

UTS: Business attains accreditation from AACSB International.

2008

For the second year running, UTS: Business is ranked in Band A1 of the Australian Government Learning and Teaching Fund. UTS is one of only two universities ranked in Band A1 of all four of the fund's discipline groups.
